A journey through a virtual art exhibition

In a world where digital art has become as fleeting as a swipe or a double tap, how can we create space for genuine reflection and emotional resonance? Enter PROBABLY ART - a project I’ve been quietly developing over the past six months. It’s a video game, but it’s not meant to be played like a traditional game. Instead, it’s a virtual art exhibition where interaction is encouraged, but only in service to experiencing the artworks themselves.

Let me take you behind the scenes of this project, which straddles the lines between digital art, interactive media, and video games.

Test

Those of you who follow me on Twitter already know that my digital art experiments often push the boundaries of interaction. I’ve made several attempts in the past to make my works more accessible by adding an element of interactivity. (Here’s a sample of one of my digital works in progress)

The core idea is simple: Move around, and you’ll hear music. Interact with the environment, and more layers of sound are added to the mix. The game unfolds through these sensory additions rather than traditional gameplay mechanics. (Here’s a short video teaser to give you a taste of that experience)

No Code, Big Vision

Confession: I’m not a programmer. What you just saw took me one and a half months to create - and yes, I know, I’m slow. The beauty of tools like Construct 3, which I used to develop this project, is that they make visual scripting accessible for artists like me. No coding required. While it simplifies many aspects, it can still be a daunting task. Every small interaction had to be carefully designed to fit into the overall vision, and what I learned through earlier tests has been invaluable in crafting PROBABLY ART.

This is what it looks like when I "program" in Construct 3

Why This Project?

I’ve always been fascinated by visual art, but I’ve also felt it lacks the immediacy of music or film, which can pull you in instantly. Engaging with a painting or sculpture, on the other hand, often requires more time, patience, and willingness from the viewer. This distance saddened me, especially in today’s fast-paced world where people scroll through timelines at lightning speed, often missing the details. I wanted to fight against that, to find a way to make people stop, look, and feel something deeper when encountering my work.

PROBABLY ART became my answer to this challenge. Through this project, I want to provide a digital space where people can experience my art as I do - slowly, thoughtfully, and emotionally. My goal is to evoke the same kind of inspiration I get when I encounter the works of my favorite artists. This interactive experience is not just about viewing art; it’s about being immerse.
